Quote of the Day: Nelson “Madiba” Mandela

The passing of Nelson Mandela is one that did not necessarily take the world by surprise but it is a great loss of a passionate human being who upheld certain ethics and morals that almost seem beyond the ordinary man. Madiba, as he was affectionately called, was no different from any  of us, he had many struggles, he had many stories, he had many trials, and of course being in prison for 27 years was what made this man’s story so compelling. However, Mandela is a true example of turning your adversities into triumph, not letting the sorrows and hardships of everyday life destroy the sanctity of our being.

Today we all join the rest of the world in honoring the legacy of a man who helped make this world a better place through his fight for equality, freedom, democracy and peace and unity.

  1. “I learned that courage was not the absence of fear, but the triumph over it. The brave man is not he who does not feel afraid, but he who conquers that fear.”
  2. “For to be free is not merely to cast off one’s chains, but to live in a way that respects and enhances the freedom of others.”
  3. “There is no passion to be found playing small—in settling for a life that is less than the one you are capable of living.”
